In 2010 on the eve of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, we launched a service called B4igo.Travel to assist with the rush we expected of football fans arriving on our shore’s and to quickly and easily get them connected onto a local cellular network.
The principle was simple! A customer would simply visit the website a few weeks before travelling to South Africa, choose from the variety of sim cards available, select various voice and data bundle options and then purchase a “travel package”.
From our side we would then RICA (register the SIM), load the required combination of voice and data and activate the SIM, and then send confirmation to the client of what their local number would be in South Africa.
Clients then simply collect their tailored simpack when they arrive in South Africa at their pre-selected Vodacom store at either OR Tambo, King Shaka or Cape Town international airport.
As the service saves you time, takes the hassle out of purchasing a sim in a foreign country and that you get your number before you travel and can share it with friends / colleagues and loved ones… it naturally was a hit!
We have now launched the service for the USA, and travelers heading to the States can now simply visit b4i.travel/usa to get connected!!!
