J for Joy!

When it comes to selecting a new cell you may be like me and suffer from what I like to call the “more-less” syndrome… More-Less? What I mean is you want more than a basic phone but less than top of the range, not everybody needs an office on the go. What I find most frustrating is that a lot of brands don’t bridge the gap, you either have your flagship top of the range or very basic entry level. This is where Samsung has managed to carve out a niche. They have bombarded the market with phones for every possible need. They have left no stone unturned, no gap unplugged! Welcome the J series!

J for Joy! No, seriously this is what is stands for. Why? Samsung have managed to create a top notch phone but at a fraction of what you would pay for top of the range. Great, especially if you are on a budget but want premium quality. Continuing the legacy left behind by the ever popular J5, one of our best sellers and still frequently requested devices, Samsung has now introduced the J7 Prime and its little brother the J5 Prime.

At first look the design screams quality, premium and exclusivity. The sleek metal back panel is a true improvement on the previous models. Both devices boast a finger print sensor upping the security factor usually only found on top end devices. Both devices also have a 13MP rear camera featuring an F1.9 lens. Basically this gives you bright images in low light settings and beautiful crisp photos. Combined with Samsung’s famous Super Amoled screen both phones supply a vivid viewing experience whether you are looking at photos, gaming or watching videos.

That’s where the similarities end. Like the big brother/little brother scenario the J7 Prime is just a little bit more advanced than the J5 Prime and your choice would be based on how important the four main feature differences are. Firstly the front cameras differ with the J7 Prime having an 8MP and the J5 Prime, a 5MP. Both cameras come with all the features you would expect as well as cool extras such as wide selfies. Screen size differs with the J5 Prime coming in at an impressive 5″ and the J7 Prime at an even more impressive 5.5″. The J7 will also be a little faster and better at multitasking with 3GB RAM and Octo Core processor versus the J5 Prime 2GB RAM and Quad Core processor. It has to be said that on these specs alone the J series is truly incredible value. Finally battery life is marginally better on the J7 Prime. At the end of the day you will pay more for the features but truly depends on usage. For what its worth if you are going to be using it as a music device, viewing device etc you may benefit from the slight edge that the J7 Prime gives you.

Packed with top notch features, Samsung has certainly not skimped on creating two fantastic devices which are sure to make a big impact on the market and continue the incredible legacy of value for money which we have come to expect from the J Series.
