Vodacom will be introducing its first “high end” branded smartphone this month in South Africa. The Smart Platinum 7 will also be bundled with a VR solution at launch, and pricing is expected to be around R7999. So how do the specs stack up?
The device has a high-end feel, and the build quality feels really good… glass front and back with a metal frame, it does contend well with the competition in the premium space.
Whilst the processor is not the fastest on the market, it is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 and users should be more than happy with the phones responsiveness coupled with the 3GB of RAM.
The main camera is a 16MP with 4K recording capability and a dual tone flash, the secondary “selfie camera” is also a more than amiable 8MP, once again sporting a flash.
It has a 5.5″ display with a decent 3000mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0 and finalyl the onboard memory is 32GB and is expandable!
So overall it punches well within its weight in the premium sector and offer some real value for money.
On contract it will be going for R399 on the Vodacom Smart S, and includes a FREE Smart VR Headset.
