TOMTOM – Time to get fit

With summer around the corner if you’re anything like me you’re probably thinking of coming out of hibernation and getting into shape! Easier said than done right? Right?! However, living in the 21st century we are lucky enough to have technology along for the ride which makes this “chore” fun/exciting/challenging/easier (pick an adjective).

So, with my Summer 2016 fitness plan starting to take shape I went on the hunt for a fitness watch (cos you have to look the part you know ;)). This proved to be the first big challenge! Where do you start, what do you take? Do you really need the fancy gadgets? Enter TomTom!

tomtom fitness tracker rangeWhat’s cool about their new range is there is literally something for everyone. Whether you are just starting out or are already on ironman/woman level TomTom is your brand whether it’s a tracker or watch you are looking for.! Let’s dive in and have a look.

Fitness Tracker

The TomTom Touch Fitness Tracker blows you average step counter out the water! Along with a heart rate monitor and sports mode (track your workouts) the touch has a very unique feature in the form of its Body Composition tracking. Being fit and healthy is more than just a number on a scale, this handy little feature helps you track your body composition over time to see what works for you and understand how fit you are. The Touch also allows the usual features you would expect such as phone notifications. Added to that the Tracker is also sweat and splash proof so no need to play it safe, push, push, push!
For someone like myself just starting out this device hits the nail on the head big time! But we cannot forget about the fitness fanatics out there, you brave souls who stretch your bodies to the limit every day!

Fitness Watch

Say hello to the TomTom Spark 3 Cardio and Spark 3 Cardio and Music. Literally the only difference is the ability to store music, over 500 songs on the Spark 3 Cardio. So if you prefer the sound of your  takkies on the road over Beyonce then I would go with the Cardio only version.

Featuring the usual suspects, heart rate monitor, GPS (a must for any serious runner) and wireless syncing, TomTom Spark 3 has hit a home run (in my humble opinion) with the following features. Race Mode allows you to select one of your past workouts and race against it. Really cool if you are training for the Two Oceans or Comrades. Route exploration allows you to upload new routes so you never run the same route twice, a nice call out to the explorer in you! The 5 heart rate zone training makes it easier to monitor what you are trying to achieve whether it be losing weight or improving overall fitness. And if you are still unsure about road running, the indoor training mode tracks performance on a treadmill.

I could wax lyrical all day about how cool these products are but instead I am going to sign off and ask you to grab one of the beauts and see what all the fuss is about!
